Google’s undersea adventure

In an effort to drape the world with a faster connection to the internet, Google together with a number of carriers plans to lay an undersea multi-terabit cable.
Dubbed the ‘Unity’ cable, it will be strung from the US at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, tying in with Hawaii and Guam to create a little additional infrastructure for the internet. Not only will this cable enable Asian ISPs to provide faster more reliable service, but it will be in line with Eric Schmidt’s announcement of building a global $100 billion company.
The carriers that will pair with Google are yet unknown, however the company has held meetings in Sydney over the past few months.
